Bricklayer.ai is proud to announce the hiring of Charlie Lehman as Head of AI Engineering. A seasoned engineering leader with a rare blend of deep technical expertise and operational leadership, Charlie brings over a decade of experience in AI systems development, real-time data analysis, and mission-critical engineering from both the tech industry and military service.

Prior to joining Bricklayer, Charlie was a Senior Principal AI Engineer at Plato Systems, where he led the architecture and development of the Orion Manufacturing Agent—a sophisticated AI platform integrating root cause analysis, advanced planning, and dynamic data.

As a Founding Engineer at Plato, Charlie led teams across AI, Data Science, Software, and Embedded Systems, spearheading the creation of Denali—the control and data management system for Plato’s Argus Edge Sensor. His work spanned C++, Python, and CUDA, and resulted in real-time detection and tracking capabilities using multi-modal sensor data.

Before entering tech, Charlie served with distinction as an Engineering Duty Officer (LCDR) in the U.S. Navy from 2009 to 2022, the final seven years in the U.S. Navy Reserves. In this capacity, he was responsible for the maintenance and repair of warships. At SRF-JRMC in Yokosuka, Japan, he led 130 multinational personnel in the repair and overhaul of forward-deployed warships, managed complex dry dock operations as Command Docking Officer, and streamlined training programs to raise technical and operational standards.

At Bricklayer, Charlie will draw on his unique background in applied AI leadership and military engineering leadership to drive the development of cutting-edge AI infrastructure, bringing rigor, resilience, and innovation to everything we build.
